Inclusive business models can create opportunities for employment and entrepreneurship for people living at the base of the economic pyramid (BOP), either directly or through companies’ value chains as suppliers, distributors, and retailers. Inclusive business models can also supply affordable yet high quality products and services to meet basic needs for food, water, sanitation, housing and health care. This session will focus specifically in inclusive business models in the water, hygiene and sanitation sector and delve into some of the key challenges in scaling these models as well as showcase some of the new approaches to ensure women participation in the value chain. The session will also discuss the role of corporates, impact investors and philanthropists in supporting the growth of inclusive businesses.
