BagoSphere is a pioneer in immersive education programs in the Philippines, equipping rural youth with in-demand skills to enter growing industries. We design and run immersive, competency-based programs which connects students directly with employers. We use technology to run our blended curriculum, and we simplify the experience from enrolment to being hired. It’s a shorter and faster way to get employed. Since January 2013, BagoSphere has graduated over 800  students, of which 80% have been hired by BPOs despite majority having zero or little work experience. About 75% of BagoSphere’s students are high school graduates. BagoSphere pipelines new sources of talents to some of the world’s top outsourcing companies, like Teleperformance, Transcom and Panasiatic.

Project Summary

BagoSphere assists rural youth in The Philippines to become more employable by designing competency-based programs connecting students directly with employers. BagoSphere wants to expand the program to other cities.

Problem

The transformation of higher education is an imperative in light of: 1. Exponential technological growth 2. Students demanding more direct connection to jobs 3. Getting a college degree is getting more expensive In the Philippines, there are few effective ways for rural youth to develop skills that companies need. 70% of high school graduates do not go to higher education. 40% of those who go to college would dropout. 500,000 college graduates annually, with huge job mismatches.

Solution

The sustained growth of business process outsourcing (BPO) industry in the Philippines means that companies are talent hungry. According to the 2022 Roadmap of the IT-Business Processing Association of the Philippines (iBPAP), the BPO sector is expected to generate USD40 billion in revenues, 1.8 million FTEs, and 500,000 jobs outside of the National Capital Region, and cover 15 percent of the total global outsourcing market by the end of 2022. BagoSphere targets rural youth who wants a shorter and smarter way to get employed. We design and run immersive, competency-based programs which connects students directly with employers. We use technology to run our blended curriculum, and we simplify the experience from enrolment to being hired.  We charge students USD375 for a 2-month program and have partnered with microfinance to offer student loans, providing over USD100,000 of student loans since 2014.
