Tina serves as Executive Director of READ Global, an international nonprofit organization that partners with rural communities in Bhutan, India and Nepal to build READ Centers that serve as platforms for education, economic empowerment and community development. To date, READ Global has built 100 community-owned and managed READ Centers reaching over 2.3 million people in rural South Asia. READ has received the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation’s Access to Learning Award as well as the Barry and Marie Lipman Family Prize, administered by the Wharton School. READ Global was also recognized by the Clinton Global Initiative for its sustainable approach to education and empowerment of women in rural South Asia.
Before joining READ, Tina was Deputy Director of Social Venture Network (SVN), a peer-to-peer network of hundreds of social entrepreneurs working together to solve critical global issues. Earlier in her career, Tina was a commercial litigation attorney and then ran a search firm for attorneys. During that time, she volunteered extensively for Room to Read, an educational nonprofit that works in several countries around the world.
Tina received a bachelor of science in investment finance from the University of Illinois and a juris doctor from Indiana University School of Law.

This session will focus on the key obstacles and challenges in fulfilling the basic right of education for the most vulnerable children. Through the discussion, panelists will also review innovative ideas and best practices from around the world in helping children regain their rights and enhance their chances of being able to pursue their dreams.
