Jaff Shen sees himself as a social entrepreneur, social innovation catalyst and market maker. After selling his company in 2002, he co-founded, grew and led Leping Social Entrepreneur Foundation to catalyze social innovation and build the market for positive changes in China. Jaff has in ten years grew five social enterprises in a series. In 2013, he introduced SVP, a venture philanthropy model, to China. It opens up innovative ways to strengthen the financial market, energize the talent market, and enhance thought leadership in the field of social innovation.
Jaff brings robust strategic planning, vigorous board governance, and increasing social impact to Leping. It has become the umbrella organization for many social innovation ventures and initiatives, managing the largest investment portfolio of social enterprise in China. SVP model has so far drawn talents and resources in several cities across China to support the growth of high potential social purpose organizations in the local area. Recent initiatives including social innovation book series publication and social innovation curriculum development are also in good shape, as an effort to build thought leadership. Most recently, Jaff led the team to become the Chinese publisher of Stanford Social Innovation Review(SSIR). These accomplishments set precedents for the upcoming endeavors in China's emerging field of social innovation.
In 2014, Jaff was honored Youth Leader of the Year by Southern People Weekly Magazine. He holds a B.A. in Oriental Studies and a law degree from Peking University.
